Patient Reviews
I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Brett Shore after discovering issues with my hips, and from my very first appointment, I felt comfortable and well cared for -- a feeling that continued throughout my entire journey.
I'm currently 11 weeks post-op from a left total hip replacement, and while I'll need my right hip replaced in the near future, I feel reassured knowing I'll be returning to this incredible team.
Dr. Shore and his staff are friendly, welcoming, and professional. A special thank you to his surgery coordinator Mellany, who was not only kind but also responsive, thorough, and extremely helpful throughout the process.
I can't overstate how warm and compassionate everyone has been -- from the office staff to the OR nurses and the pre- and post-op nurses at the outpatient center, conveniently located next door. I'd also like to give special recognition to Dr. Barrows, the anesthesiologist, who is hands down one of the most personable and down-to-earth providers l've ever met (and this was surgery number twelve within my lifetime).
To be honest, I'm not sure how anyone could leave a review of less than five stars. My experience across multiple visits and appointments has consistently been outstanding. I've felt safe, informed, and genuinely cared for every step of the way - and that means everything, especially when having to face another procedure in the near future.
Thank you, Dr. Shore, for your honesty, for giving me options, and for making me feel empowered rather than pressured within the decisions I had to make when approaching my surgical options.
Thank you, Dr. Barrows, for your sense of humor and calming presence. And thank you to the entire team for your kindness, professionalism, and truly exceptional care.
I'm not exactly excited to have my other hip replaced in the future -- but since l have to go through it again, I'm grateful to be doing it with this group!
Pain relief was remarkable immediately following surgery, and happily not even a hint of nausea. I was able to walk that afternoon on the surgery leg. Just 3 weeks later the hip feels incredibly solid and completely natural, with a very discreetly placed incision ( I admit I still care about scars showing when I wear a bathing suit). When I experienced some post-operative issues with more swelling of the foot than normal, Dr Shore immediately arranged for testing as a precaution and had me come to his office the very next day so he could make sure all was well (which it was).
His entire team at Disc is equally amazing including the skillfull, kind and responsive nurses and especially Mellany the surgery scheduler, who is a magician at quickly returning phone calls, emails and texts all at once with unfailing good humor and patience.
At my first visit, Dr. Shore had already ordered X-rays for review. He examined me, ordered an MRI, and referred me to a specific imaging center. Unlike other specialists who schedule follow-ups six weeks out, he saw me just two weeks later to discuss the results, which reassured me that he was committed to finding a solution quickly.
After reviewing my MRI, Dr. Shore presented my options: conservative treatment with injections, arthroscopy with mixed success, or total hip replacement. He was upfront about the potential outcomes of hip arthroscopy, explaining that even a successful procedure would likely only delay the need for a replacement by 5–7 years and carried a significant risk of failure. I appreciated his honesty, especially regarding the benefits and risks of hip replacement at my age. Ultimately, I opted for the more reliable solution: total hip replacement.
Surgery was scheduled six weeks later, and the entire experience was exceptional. The surgery center was the nicest I’ve ever visited. Dr. Shore used the Mako robotic-arm-assisted technique with an anterior bikini incision approach. If I lose my mind and decide to wear a speedo, the scar would be completely covered.
His office staff was incredibly supportive throughout the process, staying communicative via email, text, and phone. They also coordinated home healthcare and physical therapy for three weeks post-op. Mellany and Jazmine, in particular, made both the pre- and post-surgery experience seamless, avoiding the usual miscommunications that often come with medical offices.
Now, six weeks post-op, I’m recovering well. I value because he is not only a skilled surgeon; he is also caring, honest, genuine, professional, and always has time to answer questions. I know I’ll need other orthopedic surgeries in the future—on my other hip, my knees, etc.—and when that time comes, I’ll be returning to Dr. Shore.
